Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) is pleased to confirm the seven sport team leaders appointed for the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games following consultation with the sports governing bodies.

Athletics – Darren Ritchie

Badminton – Julie Hogg

Boxing –Tony Kerr

Cycling –Graeme Herd

Gymnastics – RodSmith

Rugby 7s – John Gillies

Swimming – Laurel Bailey

The fourth Youth Games will be held in the Isle of Man, 7 to 13 September 2011.

Each of the seven participating sports now has a selection policy in place and t he selection period opened on 1 February 2011 and will close on 31 July 2011. The full team of 43 athletes will be announced on Wednesday 10 August 2011.

Youth Team Scotland will be led by General Team Manager, Vicky Strange supported by two deputy general team managers, a media officer and five medical staff.

Congratulating the team leaders, General Team Manager, Vicky Strange said: “I am delighted we now have our full team management in place and we are making good progress in our plans for the Youth Games. We are scheduled to visit the Isle of Man in May, so the team management can see for themselves the accommodation and sports facilities being used and to meet key staff from the Organising Committee to assist us with the detail of our planning.”
