Gold Coast 2018 Media Accreditation Opens

January 4, 2017

Incredibly it is now only 15 months to go until the next Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia from 4-15 April 2018.

Team Scotland’s plans for participation in the Games are well underway and in October last year, team management undertook a successful planning visit to meet with the organising committee and also firmed up plans for the Team Scotland pre-Games Team Camp, which will be held two hours north on the Sunshine Coast.

Furthermore, the Team Scotland selection window opened on 1 January 2017, so this year’s performances will play a key part in the selection process for all 18 sports on the programme and by this time next year team announcements for the Games will be well underway.

Commonwealth Games Scotland is pleased to announce that the media accreditation process for ‘bona fide’ media organisations and individuals is also now starting and on the back of our outstanding performance at Glasgow 2014 we are encouraging media to plan ahead and prepare to support Team Scotland on the Gold Coast.

Interested journalists and photographers, who have not yet received an email with details of the media accreditation process, should email Katriona Bush, Commonwealth Games Scotland Head of Media & Communications before 11 January 2017 kbush.@bshsport.demon.co.uk

Information will also be provided about registration for the, Gold Coast 2018 World Press Briefing which will be held from 5 – 7 April 2017 on the Gold Coast, Australia.

The World Press Briefing will provide media organisations with an operational update on planning to assist in arrangements for Games coverage. The programme features presentations by key GC2018 Functional Areas and escorted tours of competition and non-competition venues.
