It’s the final day of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with two Scots still in with a chance of picking up the last medals.

Day 15 Round Up

Scottish Taekwondo athlete Rebecca McGowan cruised through her first round of the Women’s 67+ category against Fiji’s Venice Elizabeth Megan Traill, before facing Uzbekistan’s Svetlana Osipova in the quarterfinals. Osipova proved too strong, beating McGowan 2-0, but the Scot had another chance by qualifying for the repechage. She faced Côte d’Ivoire’s Astan Katherine Feghe Bathily and secured a 2-0 win, making it into one of the bronze medal contests. However, McGowan fell short and was beaten by Türkiye’s Nafia Kus Aydin, meaning she ranked 5th overall.

A successful first round of heats saw Scottish cyclist Jack Carlin place second and progress to the Men’s Keirin quarterfinal at the National Velodrome.

Laura Muir faced her 1500m final and placed 5th overall with a time of 3:53.37, a personal best.

The women’s 4x400m Relay team featuring Scottish athlete Nicole Yeargin matched the men’s equivalent team just ten minutes after their race when they secured a bronze medal for Team GB in their final race.

Day 16 Preview

Neah Evans is first up as she will take on the Women’s Omnium scratch race, before hopefully progressing to the tempo race, elimination race and the points race.

The men’s Keirin quarterfinals are on the horizon for Jack Carlin, which if he is successful, will lead him to the semifinals and potentially finals.

Day 14 Round Up

Nicole Yeargin and her team placed second in their 4x400m Relay heat with a time of 3:24.72 (and a season best), meaning they qualified for the Final.

It was bronze for Jack Carlin in the Men’s Cycling Sprint after he was beaten by Netherlands’ Harrie Lavreysen in the final semifinal race. He went on to beat Jeffrey Hoogland from the Netherlands in the third place race, securing another bronze for Team GB.

Grace Reid competed in her 3m Springboard Final, placing 10th overall.

Neah Evans secured a silver medal in the Women’s Madison with partner Elinor Barker, finishing just six points behind winners Italy.

Eilish McColgan and Megan Keith finished the Women’s 10,000m Final in 15th and 23rd place respectively.

Day 15 Preview

Rebecca McGowan will take on Venice Elizabeth Megan Traill from Fiji in her first round of the Taekwondo women’s +67kg, with the opportunity to progress into the further rounds.

Jack Carlin is back in the velodrome, this time competing in the Men’s Keirin with the chance of advancing through the rounds.

The big one for Laura Muir is coming up, as she has her 1500m final at the Stade de France. A medal is also in contention for Nicole Yeargin as she and her team take on the 4x400m Relay Final.

Day 13 Round Up

Grace Reid returned to the springboard and placed 7th in her Women’s 3m Springboard qualifier, meaning she will progress to the semifinal.

Chances of a medal slipped away from Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson in the Mixed Multihull after they were judged to have crossed the line before the starting horn sounded and forced to retire while their competitors continued. They finished in fourth place.

Laura Muir placed fourth in her 1500m semifinal with a time of 3:59.83 and progressed to the final.

Jack Carlin also completed his quarterfinal races in the Men’s Cycling Sprint and progressed to the semifinals.

Day 14 Preview

Nicole Yeargin and her 4x400m Relay team will compete in Round 1 of their heats with hopes of progressing to the Finals on Saturday. Jack Carlin is back in the velodrome and will compete in the Men’s Sprint semifinals and if he qualifies, the finals later in the day.

A place on the podium is on the table for Grace Reid as she will compete in the Women’s 3m Springboard Final. Neah Evans is also involved on Day 14 and will compete in the Women’s Madison Final.

Back on the track, Eilish McColgan and Megan Keith will both run the Women’s 10,000m Final.

Day 12 Round Up

In the velodrome, Jack Carlin started his day off by placing fifth in the Men’s Sprint Qualifying, meaning he would progress through the rounds. Carlin beat Team Canada’s Tyler Rorke in the 1/32 heat, Team Columbia’s Cristian David Ortega Fontalvo in the 1/16 heat and Team Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Paul in the 1/8 heat to advance to the quarterfinals which take place on Thursday.

Day 13 Preview

Light winds in Marseille postponed two sailing Medal Races on Wednesday, including Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson’s Mixed Multihull Medal Race. Their chance of securing a medal will come today.

Jack Carlin returns to the cycling track and will compete in the Men’s Sprint quarterfinals in heat 4, with hopes of progressing to the semifinals.

Laura Muir is back in action for the Women’s 1500m semifinals at the Stade de France.

Day 11 Round Up

In the final day of Equestrian events, Scott Brash, with horse Jefferson, competed in the Individual Jumping Final. He completed his run in 81.23 with four penalties, finishing in sixth place overall.

On the track, Laura Muir finished in second place in her 1500m heat and second overall, meaning she will now advance to the semifinal event on Thursday.

Scottish sailor Anna Burnet and her partner John Gimson competed in their final three rounds of the Mixed Multihull. The pair placed fifth in Race 10, first in Race 11 and third in race 12, so now progress into the Medal Race in third place.

Team GB collected another silver medal through Jack Carlin and his team after they finished just under a second after world record holders the Netherlands in the Men’s Team Cycling Sprint Final with a time of 41.814.

Josh Kerr also picked up a silver medal in the nail biting Men’s 1500m Final where he finished just 0.14 seconds behind Team USA’s Cole Hocker. Neil Gourlay placed 10th in the same event.

Day 12 Preview

Jack Carlin is back in action after silver success yesterday, this time competing in the Men’s Individual Cycling Sprint qualifying at the National Velodrome with finals later in the day.

Medals are in the cards for Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson as they compete in their Mixed Multihull Medal Race.

Day 10 Round Up

More medals were in store for Team GB when a fantastic effort from Beth Potter and the rest of the Mixed Triathlon team secured third place and the bronze medal. The team were originally announced as silver medallists but after further review by Olympic officials, it was found Team USA beat Beth Potter by the smallest of margins when crossing the finish line.

Nick Percy placed 12th in his group qualification and 20th overall for the Men’s Discus Throw, meaning he misses out on advancing to the final.

Anna Burnet and sailing partner John Gimson completed their next round of races in the Mixed Multihull, finishing fourth in Race 7, fifth in Race 8 and fourth in Race 9. They now go into their final set of races before the medal race sitting in a comfortable fourth place behind Italy, Argentina and New Zealand.

It was the end of the 2024 Paris Olympics road for Team GB’s Women’s Hockey team featuring Scottish players Amy Costello, Sarah Robertson and Charlotte Watson, as they were beat 3-1 by the world’s top ranked side the Netherlands.

Day 11 Preview

Scott Brash is back in action with horse Jefferson as they take on the Individual Jumping Final at Château de Versailles.

Laura Muir’s 2024 Olympic journey begins today as she takes on the first round of the Women’s 1500m race.

Back in the water, Anna Burnet and John Gimson will compete in their final three races with sights set on qualifying for the Medal Race that takes place on Wednesday.

In cycling, Neah Evans will compete with her team in the Cycling Track – Women’s Team Pursuit Qualifying at the National Velodrome. After placing second in the Men’s Team Sprint Qualifying yesterday, Jack Carlin and his team move onto the first round where they will take on Germany in their heat. This heat will then determine what Final Team GB will compete in later in the day.

Finally on the track, Josh Kerr and Neil Gourlay will both compete in the Men’s 1500m Final race with hopes of securing their place on the podium.

Day 9 Round Up

Lee Morton and the rest of Team GB’s men’s hockey team’s 2024 Paris Olympic Games journey came to a conclusion yesterday as they were defeated by India in their quarterfinal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Lee Morton scoring his teams goal, resulting in a shootout competition to determine who would progress to the semifinals. India made all of their four goals, whilst Team GB made two, missed one and their last was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the Mixed Multihull, Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson completed their next three races, in which they placed third, fourth and ninth. They now place sixth overall after their first sixth races.

Duncan Scott narrowly missed out on another medal after placing fourth with his team in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay and his final race of Paris 2024. Scott completed his leg of the race with a very impressive 51.30 split in the butterfly. He bows out of the Games as the most decorated Scottish Olympic athlete of all time, surpassing Sir Chris Hoy when he won silver in the 200m medley on Friday.

It was a disappointing day for Jemma Reekie as she missed out on qualification for the 800m final after placing fifth in her heat with a time of 1:58.01.

Both Josh Kerr and Neil Goulay were successful in their 1500m semifinal, placing second and third in their heats respectively. Both athletes now advance to the final.

Day 10 Preview

After winning bronze in the Women’s Triathlon last week, Beth Potter is back in action, this time in the Mixed Triathlon alongside teammates Alex Yee, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Samuel Dickinson.

Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson return to the water in their next round of Mixed Multihull races. Scott Brash will also compete in his next event, this time the Jumping Individual Qualifier with horse Jefferson at Château de Versailles.

Team GB’s women’s hockey team will play their quarterfinal match against the Netherlands, with Scottish players Amy Costello, Sarah Robertson and Charlotte Watson all in the starting line up.

Nick Percy will start his Paris 2024 Olympic Games journey in the Men’s Discuss Throw qualification round.

Day 8 Round Up

More medals were added to Team GB’s roster yesterday when the men’s and women’s rowing eights secured gold and bronze respectively. These podium places mean the rowing team have now surpassed their previous best medal haul for an overseas Olympics. Scottish athletes Sholto Carnegie and Rowen McKellar were both involved in the action.

Team GB’s women’s hockey team, featuring Amy Costello, Sarah Robertson and Charlotte Watson, suffered defeat to Argentina in their final pool match. They do however progress to the quarterfinals where they will play the Netherlands.

Kathleen Dawson and Keanna MacInnes were both part of the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay team that finished in fifth place in their heat and 10th overall, meaning they didn’t qualify for the finals.

In the Mixed Multihall, Anna Burnet along with partner John Gimson, finished in sixth place overall after their first three races.

Day 9 Preview

Anna Burnet is back in action for the second round of races in the Mixed Multihall with partner John Gimson.

Onto athletics, world number three Jemma Reekie is back on the track as she competes in her 800m semifinal. Josh Kerr and Neil Gourlay are also in action, as they compete in the 1500m semifinals.

Over at swimming, Duncan Scott goes for another medal in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay.

Day 7 Round up

Medals from Equestrian and the pool were highlights of a successful day seven. Scott Brash and his team held their nerve to put in a stunning performance to take gold in the Jumping Team Final at the Château de Versailles, all three jumping clear rounds and picking up just two time penalties.

Duncan Scott took his eighth Olympic medal with silver behind home hero Leon Marchand in the Men’s 200m Individual Freestyle Medley. Keeping in contention through the first three lengths, he powered home in his favoured freestyle, closing in on Marchand all the way to the touch. He becomes the most decorated Scottish Olympian ahead of Sir Chris Hoy who won seven Olympic medals.

Katie Shanahan raced in her second final at her debut Olympics, finishing a fantastic fifth in the women’s 200m Backstroke, just outside her own Scottish record. Kathleen Dawson was in action in the Mixed 4x100m Medley relay heats, as Team GB qualified for tonight’s final.

At the athletics at the Stade de France, Neil Gourlay and Josh Kerr went comfortably through from the heats of the Men’s 1500m. Jemma Reekie was also an assured qualifier in the Women’s 800m, while Nicole Yeargin was part of the Mixed 4x400m team that broke the British record in qualifying for tonight’s final.

Fynn Sterritt and team mate James Peters were in with a medal chance right to the last in the in the Skiff (49er) class but in the end had to settle for 7th place.

Team GB’s men’s hockey, with Scot Lee Morton lost 2-1 to Germany in their final group game but will progress to the quarter-finals where they will face India.

Day 8 Preview

There are two medal chances in the rowing with both the Men’s and Women’s Eights in finals action. Rowan McKellar features in the women’s event and Sholto Carnegie in the men’s.

Back in the pool, Kathleen Dawson and Keanna MacInnes will take the Backstroke and Butterfly legs in the heats of the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay. The evening session brings the final of the Mixed Medley Relay.

Team GB women’s hockey with Amy Costello, Charlotte Watson and Sarah Robertson, who will earn her 100th GB cap, face Argentina in their final group game.

Anna Burnett with partner John Gimson, silver medallists at Tokyo 2020, get underway with the first day of competition in the Mixed Multihull (Narca17).

Day 6 Round up

Team GB’s Equestrian team, including Scottish rider Scott Brash, placed third in the Jumping Team qualifier overall and qualified for the final.

Katie Shanahan placed fifth in her 200m backstroke heat and fourth in her semifinal, meaning she has qualified for the final medal race.

Duncan Scott booked his spot in the 200m Individual Medley final after placing first in his heat and second in the semifinal.

A tough day for Seonaid McIntosh saw her place 12th in the 50m Rifle 3 Position Women’s Qualifier, meaning she has missed out on further progression.

Tennis legend Andy Murray has now officially retired from the sport after he and partner Dan Evans were knocked out in the Men’s Doubles Quarterfinal by Paul & Fritz from Team US.

Back in the pool, Lucy Hope and her team qualified for the 4x200m Freestyle Relay Final after placing third in their heat. Later in the day, they placed fifth overall in the final.

Success for Lee Morton and the rest of Team GB’s men’s hockey team saw them beat host nation France in their penultimate pool match, finishing the match with a score of 2-1.

Team GB’s women’s hockey team were also successful on the field when they beat Team US 5-2, with Amy Costello, Sarah Robertson and Charlotte Watson all involved.

Day 7 Preview

Scottish athletes Neil Gourlay and Josh Kerr will compete in their first event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as they participate in their heats in Round 1 of the Men’s 1500m race.

Kathleen Dawson is back in action as she takes part in the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay.

After being cancelled mid race yesterday, medals are in contention for Scot Fynn Sterritt and partner James Peters when they compete in the Skiff (49er) Medal race.

There’s another chance for a medal for Team GB as Scott Brash and his team compete in the Equestrian Jumping Team Final at the Château de Versailles.

Jemma Reekie competes in her first event and will take on Round 1 of the Women’s 800m in heat one.

The final pool match for Team GB’s men’s hockey is on the cards where Lee Morton and the rest of the team will take on Germany.

A medal is up for grabs for Katie Shanahan as she competes in the women’s 200m Backstroke Final.

Duncan Scott also has a medal race, this time in the men’s 200m Individual Freestyle Medley.
