Badminton is a core sport in the Commonwealth Games and has featured in every Games since its debut in Kingston in 1966. England and Malaysia have dominated the sport, topping the all-time medal table and winning every edition of the Team competition between them until India took the honours at Gold Coast 2018.

Badminton has also made three appearances at the Commonwealth Youth Games; in 2004, 2008 and 2011.

Commonwealth Games Badminton competition is run under the rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
