Scots at Paris 2024: Day 3

Day 2 Round up

Yesterday, Day 2 of Paris 2024 saw eight Scots involved throughout an action packed day.

Duncan Scott placed 3rd in his Men’s 200m Freestyle Heat and 11th overall with a time of 1.46.34, meaning he has qualified for the Final.

Andy Murray has progressed to the next round of the Tennis Men’s Doubles with partner Dan Evans after an unbelievable comeback saw the pair beat Japan in the final tie break.

Team GB’s women’s hockey team featuring Scots Sarah Robertson, Amy Costello and Charlotte Watson suffered a narrow defeat against Spain with a final score of 2-1.

It was a tough day at the office for Seonaid McIntosh who missed out on qualification for the women’s 10m air rifle final after her rifle malfunctioned during the warm-up.

Fynn Sterritt endured a difficult start with team mate James Peters after placing 18th in Race 1. However, they improved to 11th in the second race having had to take a penalty turn. They placed 13th in Race 3.

In men’s hockey, Scot Lee Morton was part of Team GB who fought back to land a 2-2 draw in their pool match against South Africa after securing a comfortable 4-0 win over Spain the previous day.

Finally in Rugby 7s, Lisa Thomson and the rest of Team GB found success in their first match of the day when they secured a 21-12 win over Ireland. However, later in the day they came up short when Australia proved too strong and the game ended with a score of 36-5.

Day 3 Preview

Day 3 kicks off early for Scottish Badminton star Kirsty Gilmour when she will face Keisha Fatimah Azzahra in her first round of the Women’s singles group stages.

Swimmer Katie Shanahan will compete in Heat 1 of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley with hopes of qualifying for the final later in the day.

Kathleen Dawson also competes in her Heat for the Women’s 100m Backstroke. If successful, she will proceed to the semi finals that take place in the evening.

Fynn Sterritt continues with Race 4 in the Men’s Skiff starting in 14th overall after placing 13th overall at the end of Race 3 yesterday.

Team GB’s Women’s Rugby 7s team is back in action when they play South Africa with Scot Lisa Thomson in the starting line-up. Placing play-offs take place later in the day and will be dependant on where Team GB place in their pool.

The Women’s Hockey team also compete again today, this time against Australia.
