Scots at Paris 2024: Day 10

August 5, 2024

Day 9 Round Up

Lee Morton and the rest of Team GB’s men’s hockey team’s 2024 Paris Olympic Games journey came to a conclusion yesterday as they were defeated by India in their quarterfinal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Lee Morton scoring his teams goal, resulting in a shootout competition to determine who would progress to the semifinals. India made all of their four goals, whilst Team GB made two, missed one and their last was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the Mixed Multihull, Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson completed their next three races, in which they placed third, fourth and ninth. They now place sixth overall after their first sixth races.

Duncan Scott narrowly missed out on another medal after placing fourth with his team in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Relay and his final race of Paris 2024. Scott completed his leg of the race with a very impressive 51.30 split in the butterfly. He bows out of the Games as the most decorated Scottish Olympic athlete of all time, surpassing Sir Chris Hoy when he won silver in the 200m medley on Friday.

It was a disappointing day for Jemma Reekie as she missed out on qualification for the 800m final after placing fifth in her heat with a time of 1:58.01.

Both Josh Kerr and Neil Goulay were successful in their 1500m semifinal, placing second and third in their heats respectively. Both athletes now advance to the final.
