Rhona Appointed To Board Of 2014 Organising Company

Commonwealth Games Scotland has nominated Rhona Simpson as Athlete Representative on Board of the Glasgow 2014 Organising Company Ltd.
Rhona is Scotland’s most capped player with over 280 appearances for Great Britain and Scotland. She has attended three Commonwealth Games – Kuala Lumpur 1998, Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006 and two Olympic Games – Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. She is Director of Hockey at Hutchesons’ School in Glasgow and currently Scottish Hockey coach to the Scotland U18 Ladies Hockey squad.
Commenting on her Commonwealth Games experiences she said: “Competing as Scotland makes it special, as it is the only multi-sport event we can play in and the team spirit is always great.”She was a member of the 2014 Athletes Commission who advised on various aspects of the Bid from an athlete’s perspective. These members assisted on the overseas bid visits and also met CGA representatives on their visits to Glasgow last year.
