The famous Swiss watch brand Longines has been unveiled as Glasgow 2014’s Official Partner for Timing, Scoring and Results, and will be known as the Official Timekeeper.

The partnership marks a first for Glasgow 2014, Longines being the first Tier One sponsor of the Games joining an already impressive list of commercial partners for the XX Commonwealth Games. Longines has already been partner of several Commonwealth Games in the course of its long-lasting history.

Longines joins the Glasgow 2014 sponsor family with an ‘Official Partner’ status – the highest rank within the Organising Committee’s commercial programme.

Longines established strong links with the world of sport which enabled the company to offer its skilled services to various prestigious disciplines during the 20th century. Today, Longines’ partnerships include equestrian sports with some of the most famous flat-racing, show jumping and endurance events in the world, the French Open at Roland-Garros, the Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, the Alpine Ski World Cup and World Championships and the World Cup and World Championships in Archery.

Welcoming the announcement, Michael Cavanagh, Chairman, Commonwealth Games Scotland said:

“We, at Commonwealth Games Scotland, are delighted with the announcement that Longines is the Official Timekeeper for the Glasgow 2014 Games. Attracting such a well known world brand underlines what a prestigious event Glasgow 2014 will be”.
