Team Scotland Scottish Sports Awards
In September 2017, help us to fly the flag for Scotland as we celebrate our country’s greatest sporting achievements over the last 12 months. Make a date in your diary to be part of the nation’s favourite team, as we come together for the ‘Scottish Sporting Oscars’ – a night of celebration and recognition of the people who drive and achieve success at all levels, as part of Team Scotland. Funds will also be raised to help the Scottish Commonwealth Games Youth Trust support our athletes of the future.
Join us as 12 important award categories across individuals, schools, clubs and teams are decided, amidst a memorable night of inspiration and entertainment. The evening will then build to a crescendo with the presentation of the Emirates Lonsdale Trophy, awarded to the best of the best – the 2017 Scottish Sportsperson of the Year.

Last year’s inaugural Team Scotland Scottish Sports Awards were a resounding success with a host of Scottish sports stars present and recognised for their part in making Scotland such a successful and proud sporting nation.
2017 is already off to a great start with Scots smashing records and winning world titles, whilst performing superbly in events across the globe.
Scottish athletes are achieving selections standards for this year’s Commonwealth Youth Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, where Team Scotland is aiming to have its most successful ever overseas Games. Show your support for the Team as we highlight our supporters’ campaign.
At the grassroots, a record 158 schools across Scotland have been awarded a prestigious Gold School Sport Award by sportscotland for innovation and achievement in delivering physical education and extra-curricular sport, as the next generation start out on the sporting pathway. While Scotland’s governing bodies of sport and clubs are all playing their part in the nation’s drive to develop and deliver a World Class sporting system.
The Big Interview
The centrepiece of the evening will be an in-depth interview with Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian, rower, Dame Katherine Grainger DBE, as we explore some of the challenges facing Scottish sport. BBC Sport, presenter Hazel Irvine will tease out the issues and highlight the important contribution sport makes to all our lives.
