Wrestling In The Commonwealth Games

Wrestling is an optional sport on the Commonwealth Games programme, although it was one of the original six sports included in the inaugural Games in 1930. The Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games saw the inclusion of a women’s Wrestling competition for the first time.
Wrestling competition is held in accordance with the rules of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA).

Competition Format

Freestyle Wrestling is contested at the Commonwealth Games across seven weight categories for both men and women.

Each country is permitted to enter up to two athletes per weight category, with a maximum of seven women and seven men in total.
