Shona made her Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham 2022, finishing sixth as Team Scotland fielded a Women's Rugby 7s team for the first time.
She started playing rugby at the age of five as her parents operated the local club Montrose RFC, before taking a break to compete at a national level in netball when she was 14. She returned to touch rugby as part of the Scottish mixed team who obtained bronze in the World Cup finals in Malaysia in 2019. The all-rounded athlete scored four tries during the opening round at the 2021 Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series in Lisbon. Shona also helped Scotland win 36-12 against Japan in the same year.
