Robbie made his Team Scotland debut at the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games, winning a silver and two bronze medals. He first rose to prominence at senior level at the age of 17 when he anchored Scotland’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay team home to silver at Melbourne 2006.
Delhi 2010 was a stand out Games for Robbie as he took gold over the 200m Freestyle, once again taking silver as part of the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay. His final Commonwealth Games medal came at Glasgow 2014 with a third 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay silver in succession.
At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Robbie, along with Dan Wallace, Callum Jarvis and James Guy beat the USA to gold in the 4×200m Freestyle. Robbie’s 2nd leg split of 1:45.98 was the fastest of his career. He went on the take an Olympic medal in 2016, swimming the heats for the silver medal winning 4 x 200m Relay squad.
