Mark Stewart

Gold Coast 2018 was Mark's second Commonwealth Games, having competed at Glasgow 2014 at the age of 18, and he showed just how much he had learned from that experience by taking gold with a magnificent ride in the Points Race. Mark will take part in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. He finished 5th in the Men's 40km Points Race and 11th in the Men's 15km Scratch Race Final.

In the four years between Glasgow and Gold Coast, gold and two bronze on the World Cup circuit in 2015 was followed by further success in 2016 and medals at both European senior and U23 Championships.

Mark was back at the European U23 Championships in 2017, winning gold in both Individual Pursuit and Omnium. He ended 2017 in style, winning two medals at the final round of the World Cup in Canada, and started 2018 in the same vein, winning his first World Championships medal with bronze in the Points Race.

That was the first of three World Championship medals to date, followed up by Madison silver in both Glasgow in 2023 and Santiago in October 2025. He made his Olympic debut at Paris 2024, finishing 9th in the Madison alongside Ollie Wood.

Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Mark started cycling at the age of seven and competitively at 14. Mark's brother Kevin represented Scotland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and went on to a coaching career at British Cycling.
