Kathleen made her debut for Team Scotland at Glasgow 2014, finishing fifth in the Women's 50m Backstroke and fourth as part of the Scottish 4x100m Medley relay team. She returned for Gold Coast 2018 finishing 6th in both 50m and 100m Backstroke and 5th as part of the 4x100m Medley relay.

Breaking into the senior ranks with a bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships, Kathleen went on to make two finals on her global debut at the 2017 World Championships, finishing eighth in the 100m Backstroke and seventh as part of the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay quartet. Following European Medley Relay bronze in 2018, the 2021 European Championships saw a huge breakthrough performance where she won three gold and one silver.

She won gold in a new world record in the 4x100m Mixed Medley Relay on her Olympic debut in Tokyo, alongside Adam Peaty, James Guy and Anna Hopkin.
