Eleven boxers have been selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
All eleven athletes will make their Commonwealth Games debuts, with the squad also marking Team Scotland’s largest ever female representation in boxing at a Commonwealth Games, with five women selected.
European Junior Boxing Champion in 2022, Niamh Mitchell became the first Scottish female boxer to win a major international competition and was subsequently named Young Athlete of the Year at the Scottish Sports Awards.
Since then, Mitchell has stepped up to the senior ranks, winning the British title and competing at the 2025 World Championships. She recently claimed Scotland’s first ever senior female international gold at an overseas multi-nation event, winning the Bocskai Tournament in Hungary.
Another trail-blazer is six-times Scottish champion Stephanie Kernachan, Scotland’s first female British champion and first woman to box for Scotland at the elite women’s World Championships.
The women’s squad is completed by Caitlin Rainey, bronze medallist at the European Under-23 Championships in 2024, four-time British and six-time Scottish champion Brooke Neely, and Lara Brown, who took bronze at this year’s Gee Bee Tournament in Finland.
The men’s line up is similarly strong with European Under-23 silver medallist Aaron Cullen who is joined by World Championships quarter-finalists Alan Perrie and Robert McNulty. Perrie, was also a medallist at the European Under-23 Championships in 2024.
Leo Church comes into the Games in fine form, having recently retained his title at the prestigious Algirdas Socikas Tournament in Lithuania, while the form of two-time British senior champion Sonny Kerr and former European Schools medallist Nicholas Devlin has helped them earn selection for this summer’s Games.
Team Scotland’s Chef de Mission, Elinor Middlemiss MBE, said: “I am delighted to welcome this talented boxing squad to Team Scotland for a home Games this summer. It’s particularly exciting to see a record female representation in the sport, amongst a group of boxers who have already achieved success on the international stage.”
The boxing competition takes place from 24 July – 1 August at the SEC Centre. Tickets for Glasgow 2026 can be purchased at glasgow2026.com
