Archie made his Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham 2022, making the semi-finals of both the Men's 50m and 100m Breaststroke. He also swam the heats in the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay, with the team going on to place 6th in the final.
In 2024 he announced he had been diagnosed with three inoperable brain tumours. He returns for a second Games at Glasgow 2026.
He was a bronze medallist in the Men's 50m Backstroke at the 2019 World Junior Swimming Championships in Hungary and took silver and bronze at the 2019 European Junior Championships. The same year, he was presented with the SportsAid Scotland Scottish Youth Sportsperson of the Year award. He won silver at the 2023 European Short Course Championships in the 4 x 50 Medley Relay, breaking the Scottish record in the 50m Breaststroke at the same championships.
