UCI Road World Championships
British Cycling has announced Elliot Rowe in their U23 squad for the UCI World Championships taking place in Montreal, Canada from 20-27 September.
20-year-old Rowe made his Team Scotland debut at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at Glasgow 2026, where he was part of the team pursuit lineup that broke the national record by going sub-4:00 for the first time.
Rowe will line up in the road race, fresh from taking Best Young Rider at the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men and a 6th place finish in the general classification.
Successfully moving up from the Trinbago 2023 Youth Games, Rowe balanced his endurance background with the senior squad in front of home crowds. He is ready for the challenge on the Montreal roads describing it to the BBC as the “biggest race of the year.”
In the elite men’s road race, Oscar Olney – from Kelso in the Scottish Borders – will be part of a strong team looking to support England’s Tom Pidcock. Olney has had a brilliant year on Europe’s roads, including second place in the Vuelta a Burgos last month. Callum Thornley will also be in the peloton and is riding the time trial too.
Elliot’s sister Melanie Rowe has been selected for the Junior Women’s road race (riders 17 and 18 years old), Lauren Dickson will be in the elite women’s road race and Morven Yeoman goes in the U23 Women’s road race.
You can watch all the action live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.
