Scotland’s Hope Gordon has become the first British athlete to win both the women’s KL3 and VL3 titles at the same Paracanoe World Championships, completing a historic golden double in Poznań just four weeks after representing Scotland in Para Powerlifting at Glasgow 2026.

Hope Gordon became double world champion and team mate Emma Wiggs claimed her 13th world title to cap a brilliant final day for the British team at the Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Poznań.

Gordon added VL3 200m gold to her KL3 200m gold, having raced the two finals less than 18 hours apart, as she finished nearly a boat length ahead of the rest of the field in 55.01.

The Paralympic silver medallist has had a remarkable few months that have included competing at a home Commonwealth Games in Para Powerlifting and winning maiden KL3 golds at the European Championships, Brandenburg World Cup and now world championships.

And her VL3 200m gold represents her third world title in the event, leaving plenty for the 31-year-old to reflect on.

“It’s absolutely bonkers. I can’t quite believe it. I came here feeling like I was capable of getting this result, but it’s one thing being capable of it and it’s another thing actually doing it on the day,” said Gordon.

“It has been quite a tight turnaround, but I’m just so delighted I could pull it off when it mattered.

“This whole year it’s just been moving on very quickly to the next thing and I haven’t sat and reflected on too much.”

“There’s definitely times where I’ve thoughts perhaps I’ve bitten off more than I can chew but I’ve had enough time to do the training I needed to do and it’s all come together really well.”
