Medication
If you take regular medication, please:
- Bring enough for the full duration of the Games, plus a few days’ contingency.
- Keep it in its original, labelled packaging, with a copy of your prescription.
- Declare it on your pre-Games medical questionnaire.
The team medical service carries a stock of common medications and emergency equipment in the medical space at each hotel. We cannot, however, guarantee that every specific item will be available – so please travel with your own regular medication.
Important change for Glasgow 2026: there is no dedicated Games pharmacy. Prescriptions issued by Team Scotland or Glasgow 2026 medical staff will be dispensed through the community pharmacy network in Glasgow. The cost of prescribed medication is payable by the patient (or claimable via personal/insurance arrangements where applicable) – this is a change from previous Games where Games-time medication was free.
Anti-Doping, Supplements and TUEs
All athletes are personally responsible under the principle of strict liability for any substance found in their body. Before taking anything:
- Check all medications against Global DRO and declare them to the medical team.
- If you need a medication that is on the Prohibited List, you must hold a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) before you compete. Contact the CMO or UKAD as early as possible – TUEs cannot be arranged at short notice. Any TUE you already hold must be submitted for recognition by 19 June 2026.
- Community pharmacies: if you obtain any medication from a community pharmacy or over the counter, always check the anti-doping status with the medical team or via Global DRO before taking it. Community pharmacists may have some anti-doping knowledge, but the responsibility sits with you.
- Supplements carry a real risk of contamination. Use only batch-tested products (e.g. Informed Sport) and speak to the medical or performance nutrition team before using anything new.
