Games Living

During the Games, Glasgow 2026 will operate a multi-site Hotel Model in the City Centre of Glasgow; The Hotels will be grouped in various zones, which are:

For the Games in Glasgow, the Organising Company have introduced a Length of Stay Policy. This policy specifies the period during which athletes and staff may access their designated Games hotel. The general rule is that sports are allowed to access the Games Hotels three days before the start of their competition, and must leave two days after their competition has finished. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule that have been communicated to sports or individuals who will be impacted.

Sports which will be accommodated in Zone 1 – SEC Zone:

  • Weightlifting & Para Powerlifting
  • Bowls and Para Bowls
  • Boxing
  • 3X3 Basketball & 3X3 Wheelchair Basketball
  • Judo
  • Netball

Sports which will be accommodated in Zone 2 – City Centre:

  • Swimming
  • Cycling
  • Gymnastics

Hotel Information and Services

Arrivals, Check-in & Departures

  • The Standard Check-In time is 15:00.
  • Each Sport will be welcomed by a member of the Team Scotland Management on arrival to the Hotel.
  • The Standard Check-out time is 11:00.
  • Any early Check-in or late Check-out must be agreed in advance with the Team Scotland General Team Management (GTM).
  • On arrival, each member of the Team will have access to their bedroom through an electronic key card.
  • Replacement key cards are sadly charged by the Hotels at a rate of £10. You will be responsible for payment for any missing or lost key cards.

Housekeeping and Linen

  • Housekeeping will be delivered daily.
  • Recognising that athletes follow daily structured schedules including mandatory rest and recovery periods, athletes and staff are respectfully asked to utilise the Do Not Disturb signs should they not wish to be interrupted.
  • Towels will be replaced according to the hotel’s policy and exchanges can be requested through the Team Scotland staff.
  • Please note that hotel towels must remain in the bedrooms at all times.
  • Any towels removed or missing will not be replaced and will incur a replacement charge of £15 per towel. You will be responsible for payment for any missing or lost towels.

Athlete & Staff Dining

Glasgow 2026 has a new look and feel compared to previous Games.

Athletes and Staff will be provided with three meals a day, based at their accommodation provider, unless advised otherwise.

The Menus on offer will encourage the opportunity to make a healthy balanced choice by:

  • Ensuring that lower fat, sugar and salt options are available
  • Increasing the visibility and variety of fruit and vegetables
  • Including ample plant-based options
  • Increasing the use of healthier cooking practices such as grilling and steaming
  • Including clear allergen information
  • Promoting the use of fresh food, which is in season
  • Ensuring appropriate quality assurance standards for production, food safety, sustainable fish stocks and animal welfare standards are used
  • Encouraging locality of produce to reduce food miles while also promoting the use of local producers
  • Promoting inclusivity for all groups and ensuring all individuals, regardless of their dietary needs, cultural background or health status, feel recognised  

Meal Times

  • Please note, between 05:30 – 06:00 will be a reduced offering.
  • Certain exceptions have been made for a smaller number of disciplines where competition schedule impacts on meal times.
  • In these instances, athletes will be fed at the competition venue. 
  • Times are subject to change.

Laundry

  • Team Scotland will have a laundry process in place in each of the hotels.  
  • Information regarding the process will be available on arrival at your hotel
  • Further information will be in each bedroom or Team Scotland operational area
  • For team sports, a designated process will be in place for competition kit

Athlete App

  • The Athlete App has been introduced to replace the traditional Accommodation Information Guidebook and provide a central, consistent resource covering hotel, Games and sport-related information that can be accessed at any time or location for maximum convenience. 
  • The innovative and sustainable approach promotes a more responsive and efficient platform to deliver key messages and share live information.
  • This will be available to download in each of the Zones.
  • All athletes and staff will also be sent an email on how to download the Athlete App.

Hair and Beauty Services

  • A small range of hair and Beauty Services will be available for athletes and Team Officials from Crowne Plaza (Zone 1) and Radisson Blu (Zone 2).
  • These services will consist of hair, nail, skin and holistic treatments and will be delivered by City of Glasgow final year students and can be booked via the Athlete App.
  • The range of services available and opening hours are still to be confirmed.

Faith Services

  • Glasgow 2026 recognises that faith can be an important source of comfort and strength for many athletes, especially during Games time and when they are away from family and friends.
  • As a diverse and multicultural city, Glasgow houses a wealth of well-established and local places of worship of all denominations aligned to the beliefs and people from the Commonwealth. These are all very centrally located and offer a number of services and gatherings throughout the week.
  • Athletes and Team Officials will have access to a “Places of Worship” Directory via the Athlete App which will signpost athletes to a range of places of worship across the city centre area.
  • This also includes key information such as location, website address, details of scheduled services, directions and distance from each Team Zone.

Accessibility

  • Team Scotland have been working with the Glasgow 2026 OC to ensure all accessible needs of both athletes and staff are catered for.
  • Upon arrival at the hotel, individuals will be required to complete an EPAP (Emergency Procedure) form to ensure the hotel has all the information needed in case of an evacuation.
  • This is standard practice in hotels.
  • This ensures that all practical and reasonable adjustments can be identified, planned and implemented in advance, enabling Glasgow 2026 and hotel partners to provide the appropriate support throughout the Games.
  • Assisted evacuation procedures will also be in place.

Athlete Areas and Team Scotland Operational Space

  • In each hotel, there will be areas which athletes and official staff can relax.
  • This will be limited given the new hotel model.
  • Team Scotland will have representation in each of the hotels and a member of the General Team Management athletes and staff can engage with.
  • In some hotels (Radisson Red, Clayton & Sandman) there will be an operational space where Team Scotland staff will be present.
  • In the Marriott there will be a lead member of the General Team Management who will liaise with the Team and facilitate any questions.
  • The Marriott will have an Athlete Lounge area in the foyer and also in some designated rooms.
  • These spaces will be equipped with soft furnishings, screens and a range of activities for athletes to come together, socialise and relax while not training or competing.

Opening Ceremony Screening Experience

  • For those individuals who are in the Games Environment on the 23rd of July, there will be an Opening Ceremony Screening Experience that will allow those who cannot parade in person, due to training and competition commitments, to be able to share in the excitement by watching it live with other athletes.
  • The screening experiences will take place from within the Athletes Lounges at the hotels and will consist of large TV screens showing the Ceremony from a relaxed and comfortable setting
  • Additional entertainment and catering will also be provided to enhance the screening and provide an engaging, exciting and memorable experience.

Healthy Living at Glasgow 2026

  • While being in the Games Environment, it is important to look after yourself. Below are a few helpful tips to staying healthy:
  • Avoid busy times, if possible, in communal areas.
  • If possible, avoid busy areas in the dining hall – try to find that quiet space.
  • Carry hand sanitizer with you at all times, and use before and after eating.
  • Large bags are not permitted in dining zones so be aware of that before you leave for meals.
  • Certain foods may be taken out of the dining area but this is subject to change.
  • Team Scotland staff will inform you of the process and policy for this when you arrive at your designated hotel.
